Title:Spring hedgerows 2 - Spring flowers
Date:May 2013
Original Size: 20 x 7 cm
Notes: Produced for the Midlands Textile Forum Stretching Boundaries exhibition. This combines patchwork knitting in shetland weight yarns and eyelash yarns with felting, and then tatting to add the flowers. It was inspired by coastal views in West Wales and Cornwall, where the narrow lanes are bordered with frothing wildflowers in dry-stone walls, and the landscape always seems too wide to fit in one photograph. I originally had this as number one, as it was the first of my three hedgerows pieces to be finished. However, when the are hung together, this is the central (unifying?) section, so in 2017 I changed the numbering to reflect this
