Title:Night City VIII waistcoat - how green is our city
Date:Nov 2018
Original Size: fits 38 bust
Notes: Waistcoat produced for the WS&D annual competition in 2018 - "Beautiful Brimingham". Freestyle weaving on my SampleIt 9 inch rigid heddle loom. It was designed to a certain extent - I marked the warp in tenths - allowing 1/10 for the back to the shoulder, 2/10 for the front, then 2/10 for the back to the centre back. Kept notes on what I did in each section, and attempted to repeat it in reverse order for the second half. Having woven it, I twisted the warp ends before I washed and blocked it, then tried it on and worked out what to do in the middle of the back. Decided on a bobbin lace section overlapping the ends of the warp and extending it slightly as it wasn't long enough. More fitting was necessary to get it to fit - the result is a wearable waistcoat. To top it all, it came second in the Guild competition. This is something for me - not for sale!
